Most people I have talked to have had advanced stage. If anyone would like to talk, please e.mail me at sassyrooab@yahoo.com. The tumour was grade 3 in four (6%) pT1a and 11 (38%) pT1b RCCs. Immunohistochemically, pT1a RCCs were characterized by strong expression of p27 (79%), bcl‐2 (67%), MUC1 (87%), insulin‐like growth factor (IGF)‐I (71%) and CD10 (88%), as well as moderate expression of IGF‐I receptor (43%) and low expression of epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR, 20%). Cancer‐specific survival by the 2002 primary tumor classification is shown in Figure 3.

Purpose: Although the prognosis of patients with pT1a stage renal cell carcinoma (RCC) is generally good, some of these patients show distant metastasis. In this study, we intended to identify the perioperative and pathologic prognostic factors for patients with pT1a stage RCC. Objective: To assess systematically the possible differences in pathology between pT1a and pT1b renal cell carcinomas (RCCs), as the sixth edition of the Tumour-Nodes-Metastasis (TNM) system implemented a subdivision of category pT1 into pT1a (<4 cm) and pT1b (4-7 cm), based on clinical outcome analysis and the approach to therapy. Kidney cancer is typically given a clinical stage based on the results of a physical exam, biopsy, and imaging tests (described in Tests for Kidney Cancer). If surgery is done, the pathologic stage (also called the surgical stage) is determined by examining tissue removed during the operation. Kidney cancer staging can be complex. OBJECTIVE To assess systematically the possible differences in pathology between pT1a and pT1b renal cell carcinomas (RCCs), as the sixth edition of the Tumour‐Nodes‐Metastasis (TNM) system implemented a subdivision of category pT1 into pT1a (<4 cm) and pT1b (4–7 cm), based on clinical outcome analysis and the approach to therapy.

The kidneys are located on either side of the spine towards the lower back. The kidneys work by cleaning out waste products in the blood. Clear cell renal cell carcinoma is also called conventional renal cell carcinoma.

The main types of kidney cancer are renal cell cancer, transitional cell cancer, and Wilms tumor. This is to make sure you’re recovering well from your operation. You then have regular follow up appointments for several years after treatment.

Large areas of extensively branched papillae were present in only 14% of tumors. The second recurrence was a presumed metastatic renal cell cancer.

In renal cell cancer, the cancerous cells start in the lining of the tubules (the smallest tubes inside the nephrons). Tubules help filter the blood and make urine. There are several different types of kidney cancer. A A doctor who is an expert at looking at cells and tissue under a microscope to identify disease pathologist will look at a sample of your tumor to see what type of kidney cancer you have.
